🌱 Turkish – Canadian
I am Turkish originally and immigrated to Canada with my parents at a young age. Growing up speaking both English and Turkish in Canada has shaped my multicultural identity and has strengthened my connection to both countries.
My motivation to work in this sector stems from my multicultural identity which led me to focus on European and Balkan politics and history in my Bachelor studies. I specifically focused on European history and European Union institutional development and enlargement This led to an interest in the Balkans, specifically Bosnia, where I focused my dissertation on post-conflict societal reconstruction and reconciliation. This focus opened up my mind to the complex interplay of civil society, government, multilaterals and international politics. Ever since then, I worked in project management capacities in non profit organisations in Bosnia, Turkey and London-where I decided to pursue a Masters Degree in International Development.
Since then I have worked in various capacities with local, national and international non profits such as Post Conflict Research Centre, Creating Ground, The Women Entrepreneurs Association of Turkey, Istanbul Policy Centre and Save the Children International. From 2022, I am a trainer and learning advisor with MDF Training & Consulting in the Netherlands. I am currently based in Berlin Germany.
